Instrumentation and techniques of Very Long Baseline Interferometry (ground and space); Geodesy.
My primary interests lie in the technique and instrumentation of VLBI and the range of astrophysical, geodetic, astrometric, and general relativistic problems that can be addressed by this technique. Such problems include autonomous navigation of deep space probes using pulsar signals, interplanetary tests of general relativity, advanced energy storage systems for solar arrays, and optimal beam-forming algorithms for phased array feeds on reflector antennas, with emphasis on off-axis beams and the use of adaptive optics to correct for surface irregularities.
